According to research made and other aspects of music, Mapula is one of the songs written by the late Rupert Bopape of Mahotella Queens in the 1960's.
Paledi Malatji cited that when he recorded his version of Mapula he was approached by Bopape's son, to share sentiments that it was written by his father back then and it was re-recorded in March 2008 from his first solo album of First Prince. Candy Tsa Mandebele released her version in 2021 and Shazy B hasn't yet released her version of the song. It is considered as public domain.
