BOY MAMABOLO: SESHEGO SOCCER REVIVAL LAUNCH
On Friday the 16th October 2020 at Honeymoon Lodge which is situated at Seshego Zone 7,Boy Mamabolo Foundation was launching a new baby called Seshego Soccer Revival.
At the event they had the legends, veterans,players,supporters from different Football clubs and the venue was packed with football lovers and performance from one of Seshego Afro-pop musician Mahlatze Vokal as he entertained the people who came to the event.
The SAFA Capricorn Region Vice President Maria Mashilela stated the purpose of the event as: "to revive and make sure that all the teams that are no longer available to make a come back in the football field".She also made a vow that "if there is anything that you need I am available.I will make sure that Seshego is on the map".With the vow she took she wanted to make sure that all the teams that are available they should continue to do a great job,as a tournament that will help them grow is here to build the community.
The sponsors that were at the event gave their inputs and the SAPS from Seshego gave their remarks.
Boy Mamabolo shared his gratitude to all the stakeholders who participated in this initiative,as they made sure that the event becomes a success.He was filled with great honour to bring back football in Seshego.
This Revival will build the confidence and eager to the young footballers to grow anticipation and be the future role models.All players that will be participating in the tournament are going to be awarded with medals of appreciation.
There are 4 categories in the Seshego Soccer Revival:
Under10,14,15 & 17.Each category will be awarded with player of the tournament award that is being named after legends, veterans and football presidents.
Under 10 is named after SAFA Capricorn region vice President Maria Mashilela, Under 14 is named after veteran player of Orlando Pirates Jacky 'Styles' Ledwaba. Under 15 is named after legend Mighty Tjale. Under 17 is named after SAFA President Dr Danny Jordan.
During the presentation of the awards Dr. Jordan mentioned that every award winner, will be awarded with a ball as a way of motivating the children to showcase their talents at all aspects of the game.He added by saying that he never got an award in Limpopo,but the award he received from the Seshego Soccer Revival was the first from Limpopo.
The President of SAFA Dr Jordan when he delivered his speech he mentioned that the event of Friday was the first event he attended during lockdown,after they eased the regulations of COVID-19.He continued to say SAFA is appreciating the work of Boy Mamabolo.
He mentioned that there's a time for everything,we have to celebrate people like Mamabolo as they help the community.We have joy and pain in Limpopo and Polokwane,the painful part is that Polokwane City FC was relegated and Baroka FC doing a good job being in the league.
With the resumption of the league being open for participation,stated that the players were rushed back into the field as some of them were not ready to play due to injury,in football you have to consider the lives and health issues.The province has to have a technical centre Academy of Sports.
His closing remarks were "This competition is one of the most important competitions it's not about world cup, it's where you begin not where you end,so if you don't have the beginning you don't have the end..."
The Seshego Soccer Revival Tournament is set to partake on 16 January 2021.
