Polokwane Softball League road to the quarter finals

Thabang Letsoalo the Chairman of Polokwane Softball Association is very proud of the progress of teams because this initiative is all about developing teams in the communities and nurture their skills and talents for them to be better players.They are happy with the level of play and the improvement of the teams.

Since the league has started there are no injuries from any teams, because all the teams have prepared very well, meanwhile Mentz Spartans lost their 2 games with mercy rule. 

They hosted 1st playoffs on the 13th December and the game that was supposed to happen on the 16th was postponed due to rain, and 'the pitch was not playable'.They had playoffs on the 20th December last Sunday at Seshego.

It is said that the top4 teams will qualify for the playoffs,is the rule used for the playoffs.Now they are playing single round games,the top4 teams will be the qualifiers for the playoffs quarter finals & finals that will be held next year January.

This league is the 1st senior tournament and the association was established in June 2019,they have started with the under 16 league was won by Mentz Spartans last year,but due to the pandemic they couldn't have the second edition of under 16 games.

The expectation from association of teams he said 'it's going to be a tough one because all the teams want to qualify'...He kept on emphasizing that the teams are preparing well for the games & some teams will have training camps during the holidays,as a way to show their determination to win the league.The teams follow the rules & regulations that have been set,added that 'we don't have cases that will require drastic intervention'.

At the moment they don't have teams that are disqualified or suspended in the league.He made a request said "our plea to club is to ensure that they adhere to tournament rules because it won't be good for our tournament and future events if we suspended or punish our teams."

The most interesting and intriguing part about this league is that this is their first competition,they have secured funding for transportation for the games they will be hosting until the finals.His final remarks was " we believe that as the tournament grow we will be able to provide better incentive for players and teams."

The quarter finals will be held on the 10th January at Mankweng and finals will be hosted on the 23th January at Seshego.Team that will be crowned champions of the league,will scoop a floating trophy and medals. Check the log standings of the teams.

Lamola of Naledi Spiders will be heading the Western Cape Softball Province Pitchers

Tshepo Rakoma died a brutal death

Image: Social Media Kibi Josias Leboho who is 34 years old assertedly shot and executed his partner in the parking area of Polokwane at Shoprite Supermarket, on corner Grobler and Landros Mare Street 6th May 2021 (Thursday afternoon). Bullets perforated her body, she was found inside a motor vehicle in the parking area, it's avowed that when Leboho arrived at the shopping centre, an argument rose between them and he took a firearm and shot her countlesly, eventually she died on the spot. Match between Moletlane Texas and Seshego Raider s Limpopo Softball Association is yet in another season of Super League Campaign where "Fight for Survival" makes teams to toss and turn, as-well as shiver and mumble to be on top to qualify for the finals. This Super League has kick-started on the 27 December 2020, unfortunately due to restrictions of COVID-19 pandemic they had to pause a bit until resumption on 22 March 2021. Polfa friendly games under 11 in preparation of the tournament to partake next match

  Match between Black Beads vs Fast Feet Development Centre Under 11 (Image: Dorothy Mokoena) Fast Feet DC wrapped up their game at Seshego Stadium Zone 1 against Black Beats on a clean sheet, as they shared points both on 0-0. Friendly game in preparation of the tournament to happen next month. Fast Feet DC required treatment and the battle on the middle field, with slim chances to net. Black beats aimed for a score but the keeper of F.F.D.C. kept it in their hands. F.F.D.C. kept pushing with shots, yet the defense was widely pushed.
