Polokwane Softball League road to the quarter finals
Thabang Letsoalo the Chairman of Polokwane Softball Association is very proud of the progress of teams because this initiative is all about developing teams in the communities and nurture their skills and talents for them to be better players.They are happy with the level of play and the improvement of the teams.
Since the league has started there are no injuries from any teams, because all the teams have prepared very well, meanwhile Mentz Spartans lost their 2 games with mercy rule.It is said that the top4 teams will qualify for the playoffs,is the rule used for the playoffs.Now they are playing single round games,the top4 teams will be the qualifiers for the playoffs quarter finals & finals that will be held next year January.
This league is the 1st senior tournament and the association was established in June 2019,they have started with the under 16 league was won by Mentz Spartans last year,but due to the pandemic they couldn't have the second edition of under 16 games.
The expectation from association of teams he said 'it's going to be a tough one because all the teams want to qualify'...He kept on emphasizing that the teams are preparing well for the games & some teams will have training camps during the holidays,as a way to show their determination to win the league.The teams follow the rules & regulations that have been set,added that 'we don't have cases that will require drastic intervention'.
At the moment they don't have teams that are disqualified or suspended in the league.He made a request said "our plea to club is to ensure that they adhere to tournament rules because it won't be good for our tournament and future events if we suspended or punish our teams."
The most interesting and intriguing part about this league is that this is their first competition,they have secured funding for transportation for the games they will be hosting until the finals.His final remarks was " we believe that as the tournament grow we will be able to provide better incentive for players and teams."
