SUSPENSION OF PLANNED ACTIVITIES BY NETBALL SOUTH AFRICA
The President of Netball South Africa (NSA) Ms. Cecilia Molokwane,and her Executive Committee came to an agreement of suspending planned netball activities due to the increasing number of cases being reported on a daily basis,with immediate effect from 8 January 2021.
The planned activities that were scheduled are Under 21 training camp for the 11-15 January,The Spar Challenge in Cape Town to be held between 20 and 27 January 2021 and the Male National Championships.The postponement of this activities is because of the decision that was taken aiming to protect the lives of their players, members, stakeholders and partners.
She emphasized on the current situation we are faced with said "As the country continues to see COVID-19 numbers rising,it is very scary seeing what is going on around us.We see numbers rising these numbers are names of people that we know.As an Executive,it was very important for us to take decision to postpone all our planned activities until further notice.We will continue to take lead from government and consult all relevant stakeholders as we take all the much needed steps to ensure that we protect lives".
In conclusion Molokwane said "I think it is also important that we take this time and continue to use this moment to educate our people about the importance of adhering to health regulations and protocols around COVID".
The federation is continuing to assess and reviewing their decision on when they will continue with suspended events or either they remain suspended.They also plead with members to minimise all forms of traveling,to do so when necessary 'as the virus does not move unless people move it'.
