Preparation of Spar Netball Challenge international Test Serie

On Monday Netball South Africa held a virtual press conference under the following talking points "Quotas" matters in the media, Spar Challenge (RSA vs Malawi) 26-29 November 2020 at Sun-City and National Championship that will be held at Bela-Bela in Limpopo on 6-12 December 2020,with Netball President Cecilia Molokwane and Spar Proteas Head Coach Dorette Badenhorst.

QUOTAS SUMMARY

President mentioned that in Netball they don't have Quotas but they have self-set targets that the districts and provinces set prior championships,as they follow the demographics hence we say we have 2-5 on court. She emphasized that all this rumours that are flying about NSA are not true.

Spoke also about the NSA distancing themselves from NSL (Netball Super League) because they didn't endorse it,but they will endorse it at the right time and moment, only if they do the right thing. They will also protect players, coaches and all the stakeholders involved,so that they are not misused for the benefit of the next person.

She said a concerned question: "Nobody will come in our sport and bully us in our sport we will never allow that.I wonder why the same people don't go to other sports and doing exactly that they are doing, is it because they are undermining us as we are women in sports...?"

SPAR CHALLENGE 3-SERIES

Malawi arrived in South Africa on Monday which is 10 days before the start of the series, because of health and safety measures that have been put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This game is going to be a 3-test series against Malawi which will be held on the 26,27 & 29 November 2020 at Sun City, this game is going to be a bio-bubble,no spectators will be allowed during the game.

President Cecilia also mentioned that they have learned alot from TNL (Telkom Netball League) on how to handle bio-bubble, Spar being on board has really made their vision of hosting Netball World Cup 2023 at Cape Town very appreciative.

She also appreciated Spar being their supporter, even in the midst of the difficult times we are faced with.

Head Coach Badenhorst mentioned that there are few players who are injured and they will not partake in the 3-series challenge. The injured players will not affect the set-up she has planned that much because she has the players who are performing wonders in the court.

She also referred briefly that in the squad there are 12 players who have international play-off experience and they will try by all means to even select the players who don't have such experience. They also promised to win the games and they are ready for this 3-series challenge.
